My Digital Compass: A Year 3 Digital Wellbeing Unit
Help your Year 3 students build the confidence, kindness and balance they need to thrive in an increasingly digital world.
My Digital Compass is an 8 week, ready to teach unit using a strengths based approach. Students first build a strong, simple sense of who they are, then layer on concrete, memorable habits for balance, kindness, critical thinking and help seeking. Every lesson follows the same clear five part sequence, so any classroom teacher, including non specialists, can deliver it with confidence.
The learning sequence:
Part 1: Understanding myself online
- Who Am I? (identity, strengths and self-worth)
- Screens and Green (healthy technology balance)
Part 2: Understanding others online
3. Kind Words Club (respectful online behaviour and the THINK check)
4. Spot the Trick (introduction to advertising and persuasion techniques)
Part 3: Understanding the online environment
5. Is It Real? (filters, editing and highlight reels)
6. My Footprints (digital footprints and safe sharing)
7. Who Can I Tell? (trusted adults and help seeking)
Part 4: Putting it into action
8. The Digital Wellbeing Expo (a hands on, gallery walk consolidation task)
What’s included:
- Full teacher lesson plans with learning intentions, success criteria, explicit teaching notes, common misconceptions and formative assessment guidance for every lesson

Every activity builds toward students genuinely internalising that their worth isn’t tied to likes, followers or appearance, giving them a real “compass” for navigating their digital world with confidence.
